Cookie Policy

Effective October 6, 2026

This policy explains the small amount of information our site stores on your device. The short version: we use only what the site needs to work. We do not use advertising cookies, we do not track you across other sites and we do not let advertisers place anything on our pages.

What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file a website saves in your browser. Sites use cookies to remember things between pages or visits, such as whether you are signed in. Some sites also use cookies to follow people across the web and show them ads. We do not.

Your browser can also keep small pieces of information on your device without sending them to us. This is called local storage. We use it for one thing, described below.

What we use

Sign-in session cookie

When you sign in with the one-time code we email you, we set a cookie that keeps you signed in while you view your gift history and receipts. Without it, you would need a new code on every page.

  • Purpose: keeping you signed in and protecting your account.
  • Contents: a random session identifier. It does not contain your name, email address or any bank details.
  • How long it lasts: until you sign out or the session ends after a period of inactivity, whichever comes first.

This cookie is set only if you sign in. If you only read our pages or give without signing in, it is not set.

Theme preference

Our site offers a light and dark appearance. If you switch between them, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage so the site looks the way you want on your next visit. This preference stays on your device and is not sent to us.

What we do not use

  • No advertising cookies or ad networks.
  • No cookies that follow you to other websites.
  • No social media tracking pixels.
  • No sale or sharing of browsing information with anyone.

Because we use only essential cookies, we do not show a cookie consent banner. If we ever add a cookie that is not essential, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent before setting it.

How we understand site use

To learn which pages are useful and to keep the site running well, we look at basic, aggregated information our servers record for every request, such as the number of visits to a page. This information is not tied to your name or account and is not used for advertising.

Managing cookies

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the sign-in cookie, you can still read our pages and give, but you will not be able to stay signed in to your account. If you clear your browser's local storage, the site will return to the light appearance until you choose again.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we store, we will post the updated policy on this page with a new effective date.

Questions

If you have a question about cookies on our site, write to us through the site. Our Privacy Policy explains more about how we handle personal information.
