Terms of Use
Effective October 6, 2026
These terms apply to your use of the People for Relief site, including making a donation, joining our email list, signing in to your account and applying to our Partner Program. By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Who we are
People for Relief is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. We help people through disaster and hardship and stand behind the organizations that help them, all year round. We run giving campaigns, and donations support approved partners already helping people, such as shelters, food pantries, cleanup and rebuild crews and community groups. We do not go to disaster sites ourselves. Our partners do that work, and they are independent organizations, not part of People for Relief.
Using the site
You may use the site to learn about our work, give, manage your gifts and apply to become a partner. You agree not to:
- Use the site for anything unlawful or fraudulent, including sending gifts from a bank account you are not authorized to use.
- Try to get into accounts, records or parts of the site that are not yours.
- Interfere with the site, overload it or try to disrupt its operation.
- Submit false information in a donation, an account or a partner application.
- Copy or reuse our campaign content in a way that suggests you are collecting donations for us or on our behalf without our written permission.
We may suspend access or decline a gift or application when we have reason to believe these terms have been broken.
Your account
You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email address. There is no password to remember, which means access to your email account is access to your People for Relief account. Keep your email account secure. If you believe someone else has signed in to your account, use the contact form on our site right away.
Donations
People for Relief accepts gifts straight from your bank account (ACH) and, where offered, by Zelle. When you give from your bank account, you pick an amount, enter your account details and authorize People for Relief to debit that amount once or each month. You confirm that you own the account or are allowed to authorize debits from it, and that the information you enter is accurate. People for Relief debits only what you authorized, and you can stop a monthly gift any time from your account page.
How gifts are used
We honor the campaign you choose when you give. If a campaign receives more than its partners can use well, or a campaign closes, remaining gifts go to general relief support, where help is needed most. Our Disclosures page explains this in detail. We cannot promise any particular result from a gift, because relief work depends on conditions that no one controls.
Partner applications
Relief organizations and businesses may apply to our Partner Program through the site. Applying does not guarantee a partnership, and every partnership decision is at our discretion. Our Partner Program Policy explains who may apply, what we review and what partners agree to.
Content on the site
The text, photos, logos and other material on the site belong to People for Relief or are used with permission. You may share links to our pages and quote short passages for news or personal use with credit. Any other use needs our written permission.
We work to keep information on the site accurate and current. Disaster conditions change quickly, though, and campaign descriptions, figures and partner updates may change as we learn more.
Links to other sites
The site may link to partner organizations, news reports or public agencies. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.
Disclaimers
The site is provided as is and as available. We do not promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted or without errors. To the fullest extent the law allows, People for Relief is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages that arise from your use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that cannot be limited by law.
